I'm Not Dead Yet

FSVAA announces a new art exhibit for renowned local artist, Jim Kimberly

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 21, 2016, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

July 5, 2016 —Fairfield Suisun-City Visual Arts Association presents a solo exhibit, I’m Not Dead Yet, for Bay Area artist, Jim Kimberly. The exhibition is scheduled at the Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Art Association’s gallery located in Solano Town Center: 1350 Travis Blvd. 2nd floor #D8, Fairfield, CA 94533. The show runs from July 15 to July 30 and is open to the public.

Jim is known for his politically charged and controversial large scale installation art. He continues to push boundaries and lead the path in cutting edge art. Now facing extreme challenges of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), almost completely immobile, Jim has developed alternative methods to continue making powerful art. He describes his current process of creating art as a manipulation of materials that allow him to achieve the most pure expression. “In the calming balance between myself and my work, I feel the order of the universe present itself,” said Jim Kimberly.

Jim Kimberly has been making art for over forty years. He graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and attended UC Berkeley's Masters of Fine Arts program. Over the years his artwork has received local and national attention. Recently Jim was asked to give a lecture and host an art show at his Alma Mater, the San Francisco Art Institute which will take place on July 16th, 1:00-2:00.

May was designated ALS Awareness Month. Jim encourages everyone to go beyond the month of May and make every month ALS Awareness Month. Please join with others in the fight against ALS and bring awareness and understanding of this devastating disease. 50% of proceeds from Kimberly’s art exhibition will be donated to the ALS Association.
